This Day In Weather History

1987 – A big cold snap affected the entire central U.S. as 16 cities reported record lows for the date.  Records were set at Rockford and Springfield, both at 24.  

2006 – Springfield saw a few flurries late in the evening, the first snowfall on record for October 12th.  It was also the 5th earliest snowfall on record, and the earliest to occur.
