While temperatures were quite warm Friday, they were due to some very strong winds.
The atmosphere likes to be in equilibrium, or even in regards to pressure. If you think about high and low pressures like a bowl, high pressure would be the bowl turned upside down where the opening faces down and low pressure is the opening facing up. Winds would flow down the side of the bowl with high pressure and air would collect at the bottom of the bowl with low pressure. It was a fairly deep center of low pressure and high pressure was down to our south, so winds were coming from the south today.
