Bailey Bryant

For Bailey, coming to work as a reporter at WCIA means coming home. This Danville native graduated from Bismarck-Henning High School in 2012. She went on to get her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois in December 2014, finishing school in just two and a half years.

After graduation, she moved to New York City for a job in book and magazine publishing. There, she did everything from interview Buzz Aldrin and NASA’s chief scientist for stories she wrote in Newsweek to ghostwrite zookeeper Jack Hanna’s children’s books. That means she can lay down some serious animal trivia. (Snakes don’t have eyelids!)

Eventually, Bailey realized she was destined to live somewhere with more trees and less traffic. To make that happen, she decided to transition to broadcast journalism at Columbia University in New York City. She graduated with her master’s degree in 2017.

Now, she’s excited to be back to the place her younger self couldn’t wait to leave. She loves lipstick, hot sauce and photo booths. As her family jokes, the prodigal daughter returns!
