Heidi Cordes, Membership Director with Stephens Family YMCA, joins the Morning Show to discuss their organization and how they can use some help this 4th of July.
The Y needs to share our story with the community; we need to let people know that we are diverse organization that offers scholarships. There are many people in Champaign that need financial support and coming to the “gym” is not in the budget.
We need to share with as many people as possible that we serve all people, Wounded Warriors, Active Older Adults, Nontraditional families, single parents, etc. The Y is a place for “Wellness”, wellness is you over all spirit, and it is not just physical fitness.
Studies show that belonging to a community that has the same mindfulness or goals helps the individual achieve their own. People that come to the Y, find micro communities such as Bible Study, Book clubs, Group Fitness classes, Coloring Classes, lunch groups, etc.
We will be participating in the Champaign Freedom Celebration and we need volunteers to walk with the float.
Having volunteers in the parade shows the community the fun and togetherness that is felt at the Y. It will also show how diverse we are, ages, races, religion, body type, etc.
July 4th 10:45 meet at the parking lot across from State Farm Center
