Its not yet time for the cookie sales, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait to help one organization. Learn how you can help your local girl scout troop in today’s Giving Back.
It’s back-to-school time and that means Girl Scout recruitment time! Girl Scouts of Central Illinois serves over 20,000 girls and volunteers across 38 counties, over 600 volunteers specifically in greater Champaign area. Most volunteers serve as troop leaders; yet, each year we have more girls who wish to be scouts than volunteers to lead them. We also need volunteers to assist with program events as well as outreach in schools and social agencies, directly impacting girls. During camp season June-August, we also need volunteers to lead girls at Camp Kiwanis. Volunteers also can make a difference assisting with maintenance of Camp Kiwanis in Mahomet, entering survey data to measure outcomes, becoming a board member and so forth. The more volunteers we have to help, the more girls we can build of courage, confidence and character.
