Stacey Lafeber of Girl Scouts of Central Illinois stops by the Morning Show for this week’s Giving Back segment and they have a few upcoming ways you can give back to your community.
Girl Scouts of Central Illinois serves over 20,000 girls and volunteers across 38 counties, 500 volunteers specifically in the Champaign Service Center area. Most volunteers serve as troop leaders; yet, each year we have more girls who wish to be scouts than volunteers to lead them. We also need volunteers to assist with program events as well as outreach in schools and social agencies, directly impacting girls. Volunteers also can make a difference assisting with Cookie Crew delivery for the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scout Cookie Program, maintaining Camp Kiwanis in Mahomet, leading girls at camp, entering survey data to measure outcomes, becoming a board member and so forth. The more volunteers we have to help, the more girls we can build of courage, confidence and character.
Date and Time of event: Troop leader recruitment and training are ongoing, especially at the start of the school year; program events, series and data entry are ongoing; Cookie Crew delivery starts again February 10-March 20, 2017; and summer camp returns June-August 2017.
