ORGANIZATION NAME: Courage Connection
ISSUE TO ADDRESS: Every 9 seconds a woman is assaulted or abused by an intimate partner or family member in the United States. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, intimate partner contact sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking. For almost 50 years Courage Connection has helped survivors of domestic violence in East Central Illinois rebuild their lives. We are constantly evolving to not only meet the needs of our clients but to educate and raise awareness of this ever growing problem in our country and our community. Volunteers are a great way to expand our resources and help support the needs of our community.
What are some of the ways members of the community can help Courage Connection?
We are always in need volunteers at our resale Store Connections in Lincoln Square Mall. This is the easiest way to help and great for an induvial or groups. We need people to help accept and sort donations as well as to clean and organize the store.
What if I want to volunteer directly with the clients, are there ways that I could help?
Yes, we do have direct service volunteer positions such as; working with our children’s program, working on our Domestic Violence Hotline and administrative and outreach options. Most of these positions require the volunteers to complete our 40 hour Domestic Violence training and may require some additional training.
