An intriguing Western and a pair of classic horror films are on area screens this weekend. Film critic Chuck Koplinski gets us up to speed.
The Sisters Brothers. In 1850s Oregon, a gold prospector (Riz Ahmed) is chased by the infamous duo of assassins, the Sisters brothers (Joaquin Phoenix & John C. Reilly). Though the film overstays its welcome, under the unique eye of director Jacques Audiard this proves to be an immersive experience what with meticulously rendered period details and dialogue. A couple interesting twists keep the viewer engaged up until an unsatisfactory conclusion. 3 Stars (Chuck Koplinski) Rated R. 121 minutes. AMC-C, SA.
