Friday Flicks: “Dumbo” & “The Highwaymen”

The Morning Show

A remake of an animated classic and a Netflix premiere are available for viewing this week. Film critics Pam Powell and Chuck Koplinski tell us about Dumbo and The Highwaymen in Friday Flicks.

Dumbo (Starts Friday) A young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus, but when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer. Tim Burton brings his trademark sense of visual flair to the production, absent his usual dark overtones. The production values are top-notch, you’ll believe an elephant can fly and the story still manages to effectively tug at your heart. 3 Stars (Chuck Koplinski) Rated PG. 112 minutes.  AMC-C, AMC-D, HAR, ONA, SAV.

The Highwaymen (Starts Friday) A pair of police officers (Kevin Costner & Woody Harrelson) come out of retirement to catch the infamous outlaws Bonnie & Clyde. 2 1/2 Stars (Chuck Koplinski) Not Rated. 133 minutes.
