DAV purchases new van for VA Clinic rides

The Veteran’s Assistance Commission of Macon County provides veterans with FREE transportation to the Danville VA Clinic Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. To arrange a ride a veteran needs to call the VAC office at 217-424-1376. Veterans volunteer to drive the van. Currently the driver with most seniority is Charles Loury with 14 years and more than 59,000 miles! There is a team of six drivers currently for Macon County. Our Macon County team also currently picks up in Champaign as well.

The DAV, Disabled American Veterans Macon County Chapter #17, recently purchased a new van for Macon County. This is the 5th van they have purchased for Macon County since the program began. DAV is a nonprofit national charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families, helping more than 1 million veterans in positive, life-changing ways each year. Annually, the organization provides more than 600,000 rides to veterans attending medical appointments. With nearly 1,300 chapters and more than 1 million members across the country, DAV empowers our nation’s heroes and their families by helping to provide the resources they need and ensuring our nation keeps the promises made to them.
