Watson resigns from Urbana football

URBANA — After eight years as Urbana football coach, Nathan Watson has resigned.  Watson compiled an overall record of 21-53 during his tenure but only won five games the last four years, including a 1-8 record this fall.

“There are many reasons that have led to my decision but, ultimately, I just feel like it is time for me to move on,” Watson said in a statement late Tuesday  night.  “I am confident that I have done everything within my control to move the program forward and I wish the program the best in the future.  While I am thankful to all who have supported me over the past eight years in this position, at this time, I simply need to focus on my faith, family, and health.  I remain passionate about coaching football and I am excited about what the future holds.”
