ST. JOSEPH — Monday was the first day of high school basketball practice. The defending 2A state champion SJO Spartans have a lot of new faces heading into a new season.

“We got to get to know each other and I think experience is going to be huge,” head coach Brian Brooks said. “We had a great June, we were really pleased with that but November, December, January is a lot different than June.”

“If we’re going to be successful, because it’s a new group of guys, we got to get to know each other well,” senior Brandon Trimble added. “We got to bond well, that’s the big thing, we got to bond well and we got to get out from the beginning and we got to keep working hard and pushing each other and get to know each other more.”

The Spartans open their season on December 2nd.
