SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) — At 7 years old, most kids haven’t even started playing sports. But Isaiah Roundtree has already made a name for himself in the golf world, and he knows it.
Roundtree has the hardware to show for this kind of confidence. After picking up his first set of clubs at just three years old, he’s already won several medals, and there’s no doubting that when his best score is five over par on nine holes. In June, Isaiah placed second at the Effingham drive, chip, and put competition, advancing him to the sub regional when he was just six years old.
“I was really happy because that was one of the more important tournaments that’ve I’ve won, so it was really special,” Roundtree said.
While there will likely be many more trophies to come for this young golfer, nothing beats the feeling of sharing the sport with his dad, Jamie, who is also his biggest motivator.
“The learning we do together, even though I’ve been playing for a little over 10 years, I still have a lot to learn, and so the things we can learn together are a lot of fun,” Roundtree said. “And we share sort of a passion for it, so that makes it a lot of fun as well.”
But it’s only a matter of time before Isaiah starts doing all the teaching, because he has some big goals for future.
“Going to the PGA tour or something,” Roundtree said.
