Dans primed for playoffs

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — For the first time since 2015, the Danville Dans have made it to the Prospect League playoffs.

The Dans won seven out of their last ten games to move ahead of the Terre Haute Rex and win the West Division. The two teams will now face off against one another in the first round of the playoffs. Each team won seven of 14 games against one another in the regular season.

“Hopefully we can make it further than we did last time,” pitcher Grant Mayeaux said. “We were out in two against Terre Haute. It’d be nice to go in there and get a win or two against them.”

“We know each other fairly well. We’ve played each other 14 times as well, so I don’t know if there’s an advantage or disadvantage, but we know we can beat them,” head coach Eric Coleman added. “We have beaten them the last two times. I know it’s going to be a dog fight. Our guys have to come out ready to play and I think they will.”

The series starts at 4:30 CT on Sunday in Terre Haute. Games two and three (if necessary) will be in Danville.
