CHAMPAIGN — Since losing to Northwestern, Lovie Smith and his staff have been recruiting hard. So how will the end product shape up for the 2017 recruiting class. That’s our #1 question heading into the offseason.

“To high school kids, if you want to listen to an old man, come to Illinois because it’s going to happen here,” former Illinois center Joe Spencer said. “These coaches have your best interest.  Our staff and their NFL experience and their coaching experience is rival to none and it’s going to grow.  They say if you build it they will come and the wins will come and I fully believe in that.”

Illinois currently has 11 commits for the 2017 class. Their class is currently ranked 12th in the Big Ten by Scout.com.
