MADISON, Wis. (WCIA) — The Illini put themselves in position to win its second straight road game, something that hasn’t happened in a decade, but down two with less than a minute to play, Illinois couldn’t seal the deal losing its program worst 15th-straight game to Wisconsin.
“I feel really good. I felt our kids fought,” Brad Underwood said.” They made a play down the stretch, Reuvers made the offensive tip and we forced them into what I thought was a really, really poor shot at the end of the game.”
“Like I said, I feel like we got whatever shot we wanted to get offensively,” Ayo Dosunmu said. “We got out in transition. It’s just a little couple plays, a rebound at the end to just fix up. But those are correctable things.”
After the game head coach Brad Underwood went on to say he feels like the Illini have finally arrived, saying he didn’t think his team would have been able to even be in the game late a couple of months ago. It speaks to just how far Illinois has come and yet still have room to grow, especially on the road.
