CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — The Illinois volleyball team is up to No. 4 in the national rankings after winning at Nebraska over the weekend. The Illini beat the Huskers for the first time since 2014 and moved into its highest ranking since the 2011 national runner-up season.
“We like to say we have some swag, like we know what we can do,” Illinois sophomore defensive specialist Morgan O’Brien said. “So that helps us when we’re some rough points or patches when other teams are going on runs. So we’re like, ‘Let’s just get our swag back.'”
“No matter how you define it or how you say it, it’s just this trying to maintain this level of confidence and trusting you’ve put in the time and the work,” Illinois senior setter Jordyn Poulter said. “In order to step on the floor and know that you’re going to beat a team.”
Illinois is back on the road this weekend playing at Ohio State Friday night before continuing east to visit Maryland on Sunday.
