WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WCIA) — In a game of back-and-forth runs, Wake Forest got the last big one in a 80-73 win over Illinois in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Tuesday night.
The Illini (6-1) started out strong but went nearly six minutes without a point midway through the first half, allowing the Demon Deacons (3-4) back into the game. After clawing back in the game, Illinois allowed another big stretch before the half, 13-2. The scoring woes continued in the second half, as the Deacs used an 11-0 streak to grab control.
Illinois was led by Aaron’s Jordan’s 20 points off the bench. Kipper Nichols added 14, while Leron Black finished with 10. They return to the court Friday night opening Big Ten play at Northwestern.
