Underwood on transfers: "I don't get too upset or overly concerned about it"

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- Transfers are nothing new, more than 800 men's basketball players are expected to leave programs across the country this year alone. Illinois has had five players transfer since the end of head coach Brad Underwood's first season in Champaign. Six players have left the team in all; Mark Smith, Te'Jon Lucas, Michael Finke, Leron Black, Matic Vesel and Greg Eboigbodin.

"It's part of it," Underwood said. "It's not us, we're in a one-and-done world where we've got a lot of options where kids move and no rhyme or reason per say. Everyone has different interests. Some academic, some basketball, some in other areas so I don't get too upset or too overly concerned, it's just a part of what we deal with."

Illinois still has three open scholarships for next season. The first summer workout is scheduled for this week.
