CHICAGO, Ill. (WCIA) — In year three under Lovie Smith, the Illinois football team should see progress on the field. Progress the players say needs to start in the locker room.
Nick Allegretti, Mikey Dudek, and Jamal Milan were the three Illini representatives at the Big Ten media days in Chicago this week. All three players are from Chicago and used the week to hype up Illinois as much as possible.
“It’s been a lot. Its been fun, though. You know yesterday we got in, we took a few pictures in our jerseys then went to the Cubs game. So that was cool. Then, today it’s been all business,” senior wide receiver Mikey Dudek said. “So, yeah, it’s been awesome, though. We’re trying to take it all in and enjoy the process.”
“Really what I’ve been telling everyone is just you’ve got to become mentally stronger and learn how to finish games,” junior defensive lineman Jamal Milan added. “But the first step is become mentally stronger, and that happens in the off-season and in camp. During this off-season, we’ve shown that we’ve become mentally stronger and now it’s time for camp to show it too.”
Training camp starts August 3rd for Illinois.
