“This is a great wake-up call for us.”

URBANA — The Illinois softball team has lost three-straight games for the first time in more than a year.  The Illini (35-15, 13-6 B1G) dropped Tuesday’s game to Eastern Illinois, then got swept in a mid-week Big Ten Conference doubleheader the following day.

“I think especially in Tuesday’s game, we kind of thought we could just show up and win and it doesn’t work like that,” Illinois head coach Tyra Perry said.  “So this is a great wake-up call for us.  We had an excellent practice today and we’ll be ready for this weekend.”

Illinois hosts Ohio State in the regular season and home series finale, starting Friday at 5 p.m.  The Buckeyes are right behind the Illini in the Big Ten standings.
