Men’s Basketball ready for Braggin’ Rights Game against Missouri

(WCIA) — It’s one of the most historic college basketball rivalries dating back 37 years. On Saturday December 22, 2018  Illini Basketball will tip off at their 38th Annual Braggin’ Rights Game against Missouri.
The Illini have won the last five games against the tigers, and they also lead the series 25-12.
For the lone senior Aaron Jordan, this will be his last time playing in the unique atmosphere at the Enterprise Center.

“It’s definitely emotional, a lot of history behind this game,” says Jordan. “A lot of history behind the team’s I’ve been with here, and just having success in it. Just wanting to do that for my last time, that’s exciting.”
“I’m a huge fan of rivalries, I’ve been a part of quite a few of them. This one lived up to all the hype,” says Illinois head coach Brad Underwood. “You got a Missouri team that’s coming off a great win, and is playing awfully well, and we’ll have to play well to beat them, Should be everything that good rivalry games are about.”
Missouri head coach Cuonzo Martin also comments on the Illini team they will face in this rivalry. “It’s an emotional game, there will be up’s and down’s in games like this,” says Martin. “They’re a talented team. Their guards score the ball, young good freshman, big guys, their wings are good, Kipper is good–very talented team.”
Coach Underwood also says that communication and keeping their composure will be important to succeeding in this kind of environment.  The Illini tip-off at 7pm at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, MO on December 22, 2018.
