CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Illini point guard Te’jon Lucas will miss his second game in a row due to a violation of team rules, head coach Brad Underwood announced on Sunday.

Lucas will not travel with the Illini to Nebraska for their game against the Cornhuskers on Monday.

Illinois is coming off an overtime loss to Iowa, a game in which they were called for 31 fouls. The Hawkeyes shot 40 free throws for the game, Illinois only shot 14.

“We commit silly fouls. We commit fouls that are unforced and those are the ones that we talked about in film session and in our postgame,” Underwood said. “Kipper missed a layup and turns around and just hacks the guy. Those are the frustration and maturity fouls that you can’t have. We’ve got to stop that. We can’t put an opponent on the line in our building, heck can’t have them go to the line 40 times.”

Illinois and Nebraska start at 8:00 on Monday night.
