Lere Oladipo in court


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois redshirt freshman defensive tackle Lere Oladipo was arrested early Sunday morning on a charge of domestic battery. He plead not guilty to three counts of domestic battery in court on Monday.

Suspended Illinois defensive tackle Lere Oladipo was in court Monday. He plead not guilty to three counts of domestic battery. He is accused of pushing a female, causing bleeding abrasion on lip. Could face probation or fine up to $2,500 or jail time. Pretrial set for Dec 21 at 9 am.


He was released after posting bail Sunday morning.

Illinois announced Sunday evening that Oladipo is suspended indefinitely from the team. Lovie Smith said, “I am aware of an alleged incident involving Lere Oladipo early this morning. We will continue to follow DIA policy on reviewing and responding to such actions.”

Oladipo is due in court on Monday.

He has played in four game so far this season, including Saturday’s loss at Maryland.
