Inductees honored by inclusion in 2018 Illini Hall of Fame class

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Former men’s basketball coach Lou Henson was the headliner of the 2018 Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame class and it wasn’t hard to tell the other inductees were honored to stand next to Lou.

“Being inducted at the same time as legendary Lou Henson is a big thing,” former baseball player Darrin Fletcher explained.” As a boy in Illinois, Vermilion County, I idolized Lou and his teams and he took on big fashion too wearing the orange blazer, not a lot of people can pull that off.”

“My parents are down, they haven’t been down since my last game at the Assembly Hall, which is now the State Farm Center, so it’s a very, very memorable weekend for us, for the whole family,”” Kendall Gill added.
