CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois softball heads to the NCAA tournament with a different mindset this season. The Illini (37-18) return to Lexington, Kentucky, the same Regional they were eliminated in a year ago.
“We’re more mature, more experienced,” Illinois senior pitcher Breanna Wonderly said. “We just know what to expect and what we need to do to get to the next level.”
“Now that we have our four seniors who have been to the tournament before, they have that experience and our returners have that experience,” Illinois head coach Tyra Perry said. “It puts us in a different position to where maybe we can be a little more on the attack.”
Illinois takes on Marshall (41-10) Friday morning at 11 a.m.
