CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Spring ball is off and running for Illinois football. The Illini practiced for the first time on the field in 2019 bright and early Tuesday morning at Memorial Stadium. It’s one of 11 workouts that will start at 7:30 a.m.
“It’s good to kind of get the process started,” Illinois head coach Lovie Smith said. “We have a lot of position battles, we need to look at a lot of different guys at different positions, and just taking another step in our program. But a good start, but this next phase of our offseason program–spring ball is pretty important.”
“I try to put as much work in as I can in our offseason,” Illinois senior running back Reggie Corbin said. “So when I’m out here, I don’t worry about anything, let just the skill set take over, and play as hard as I can and try to be a leader.”
