CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — The Illini are back in action on Saturday for the first time since their Braggin’ Rights win over Missouri.
The Illini played 11 games in the first four weeks of the season, but have only played three times since December 13th.
Illinois used the time off to rest their bodies before the grueling Big Ten schedule starts on Wednesday.
“We tell our players and our athletes, it’s the time to act like a professional. When there is no academic load and you can be in the gym as much as you want to be in the gym and watching film and doing those things,” head coach Brad Underwood said. “These guys have been, they’ve been pretty good about that and I feel like we can continue to improve.”
“You always have to get your rest. You can see me and Trent are big sleepers so we try to get as much rest as we can but at the same time be at the gym,” freshman guard Da’Monte Williams added.
Illinois hosts Grand Canyon at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
