URBANA (WCIA) — Zeke Clark, Aleks Kovacevic and Alex Brown earned first team All-Big Ten honors on Thursday, announced by the league. The two juniors and sophomore are leading the team into the B1G tournament this weekend at Michigan. The second seeded Illini are coming in winners of nine out of their last ten matches. The only loss in the last month was to Ohio State, the top seed this weekend.
“This is definitely the most important time of the year,” Clark said. “You play all season to lead up to the Big Ten tournament, to lead up to the NCAA’s and do or die. I think that kind of brings out the best in us and we’re really excited.”
“There’s no question in my mind there’s more than what we accomplished in the regular season and it’s up to us in the next few days to figure out how to push all those buttons and get it out of them,” Illinois head coach Brad Dancer said. “I think that’s where we are right now in trying to figure out how to do that.”
Illinois will face No. 10 Purdue Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
