CHAMPAIGN — Two of Illinois football’s most important players are making progress recovering from season-ending injuries. Illini head coach Lovie Smith said receiver Mikey Dudek is “totally cleared” and quarterback Chayce Crouch “is on track” with his recovery. Smith spoke during a Big Ten Conference spring football teleconference Wednesday.
Dudek has missed the last two seasons after tearing his ACL twice. He is running but was held out of spring practices to make sure he’s ready for training camp later this summer. Crouch injured his shoulder in the first half of the Rutgers game. He underwent surgery and was not part of contact drills during spring ball. He did throw and has been making steady progress.
