Illini practicing ‘situational’ football

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Illinois Football will hold it’s annual Fan Appreciation Day on following it’s final open practice of fall camp.

Practice will run from 3-5 p.m. and from 5-6 p.m. fans will have a chance to meet players and coaches for autographs and pictures.

Head coach Lovie Smith says his team is still in the thick of camp and won’t be preparing for their first game against Kent State until next week, so fans will have be watching the Illini practice situational football.

“Offense versus defense, individual improvement is still where we are,” Smith said. “Now, we’re to the point where it’s everything from coming out to going in, to red zone. We’re hitting on all situations, two-minute, anything that’s happening in a game, we’ll touch on that a little bit tomorrow.”

The Illini open up their season against Kent State Sept. 1.
