Illini land third commit in two days

Illini

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illini went from zero commits in the 2020 class on Sunday morning, to three on Monday afternoon.

4-star wide receiver Jadon Thompson from Chicago Marist verbally committed to Illinois on Monday afternoon.

He joins Marcus Harper and Reggie Love in the class of 2020.

Love is a running back at Trinity Catholic in St. Louis, where he was coached by current Illini assistant Cory Patterson. Patterson was hired from Lovie Smith in 2017 in hopes of boosting the Illinois recruiting efforts. He’s done just that, especially in the St. Louis area.

“I know that he’ll take care of me as far as he’ll be there for me as a person on and off the field,” Love said. “So it’s just a blessing. Always coming up to see Coach Cory, we was real close at Trinity so it’s a blessing to have him here.”

With the three commits, Illinois has jumped up to the 37th ranked class of 2020 according to 247sports.
