Illini hold off late Illinois State rally

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illini scored one run in four different innings to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Illinois State scored two in the 9th, but Illinois held on for the 4-2 win.

Illini freshman Cam McDonald went 2-4 with 2 RBIs on the day. Ty Weber threw 8.2 innings allowing 2 runs on the day. Garrett Acton got the save.

Illinois is now 16-4 on the season.

The final game of the series is Sunday at noon.
