Illini fall back to old ways in loss at Iowa

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The high of the win over Minnesota quickly diminished on Sunday in Iowa City with a 24 point loss to the Hawkeyes.

Iowa shot 68% from the field and 71% from three in the win. The Illini are still searching for their first road win of the season, currently 0-10 on the road.

Illinois fell back into their old ways of fouls and shot clock violations. Something that goes along with being a young team playing a true road game.

“What magnifies things for us is when we struggle at that end we let it go to the other,” Brad Underwood said. “We’ve got to be able to withstand that and that’s toughness, that’s experience, that’s discipline and it’s attention to detail. I think our guys to the man will tell you that we didn’t follow the scouting report very well.”

“They haven’t really been on a road environment like that. That’s just a team thing though,” Aaron Jordan said. “We thought we did a lot of good things versus Minnesota but then we come out and now we have a different opponent, a different scouting report and it’s a road game on top of that. So just those things, locking into that, we need to emphasis that more as we go on.”

Illinois host Wisconsin on Wednesday.
