Illini complete sweep of Salukis

CHAMPAIGN, (WCIA) — Behind their best offensive output of the season, the Illini put SIU away with a 14-5 win on Sunday.

The 14 runs is the most in one game for the Illini this season.

They are now 13-3 on the season.

“Any time you can come out and win the first two games of a series the goal is to jump on them as quick as you can on Sunday and hopefully they quit. And to their credit they didn’t,” Michael Massey said. “We kept swinging it and putting pressure on them so it’s definitely important to get out to a good start.”

“After the games yesterday we talked about how fortunate we were to win two games,” Dan Hartleb said. “We took advantage of some of their mistakes and they were close tight ballgames and I think it’s important that you play in those games but my challenge to the guys last night was to come out and beat somebody and really take it to them.”

Illinois travels to St. Louis on Tuesday for a midweek two game series against the Billikens.
