Illini cap off perfect three game homestand

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illini had a simple goal when approaching their three game homestand, win all three. Mission accomplished.

The Illini beat Nebraska, Michigan State, and Rutgers to improveto 9-15 on the season and 5-8 in the Big Ten. Giorgi Bezhanishvili scored an Illini freshman record 35 points in the win over Rutgers on Saturday, but he’s already put that behind him and is focused on the next game.

“That was our goal. We had three straight home games, we wanted to get three straight wins. That was our goal, we accomplished that. We did a couple of bad things, couple of good things but at the end of the day we got a win,” Bezhanishvili said. “We are happy about it we just got to move on. Ohio State is next, we are hungry for them.”

“Pace. Tempo. Efficient. Multiple guys in double figures. Inside out, we didn’t run probably as much as maybe some teams but that’s okay. That game called for that. But yeah, we’re getting there,” Brad Underwood said.

Illinois plays at Ohio State on Thursday.
