URBANA (WCIA) — Four Illinois football blueshirts were officially announced before the team’s first practice on Friday afternoon. Quarterback AJ Bush, receiver Dominic Stampley, linebacker Camilo Eifler and kicker Caleb Griffin are all on scholarship but will be in the Class of 2019. The NCAA only allows teams to sign 25 players per recruiting class, so to help offset that, they permit programs to ‘back count’ players to the following recruiting class.
Bush is a graduate transfer from Virginia Tech, by way of Nebraska. Stampley spent last season at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, while Camilo Eifler is also transferring in, he previously played at the University of Washington. Danville grad Caleb Griffin is a true freshman for the Illini.
