CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Former Illini receiver Justin Hardee is back on campus this week, watching practice and visiting with the team. Hardee is currently playing for the New Orleans Saints, primarily as a special teams player. He made the switch from wideout to defensive back and was activated from the practice squad in Week 3. Hardee made his first career NFL tackle last week in a win over the Dolphins.
“If they tell me to do wide receiver, kicker, punter, snapper, I’m going to do it,” Hardee said. “It’s whatever. I’m really willing to do whatever but the position change has been very fun, very exciting. You know I’m willing to learn.”
Hardee graduated from Illinois last year and was second on team in receptions. He went undrafted and was on the Houston Texans’ preseason roster.
