SPRINGFIELD — It has been a year full of new experiences for former Illinois golfer Scott Langley. After playing primarily on the PGA Tour the last four years, Langley has been delegated to mainly Web.com Tour events in 2017, as he tries to work his way back to the main tour. The St. Louis native is playing in this week’s Lincoln Land Charity Championship in Springfield.
“Good golf pays dividends wherever you play,” Langley said. “I feel like I’ve been playing a little bit better as the year has gone on. My results have been a little bit all over the place but I really feel confident in what I’m doing, and lately I feel like I’ve been trending in a really good direction. So, I’m excited about this week.”
Three other former and current Illinois golfers will join Langley in the field at this week’s tournament at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield. Luke Guthrie is also trying to get back to the PGA Tour full-time, while recent grad Charlie Danielson is just getting his pro career started. Senior-to-be Dylan Meyer earned a sponsor exemption to the four-day event that tees off Thursday morning.
