CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Ayo Dosunmu has unfinished business. That’s the message the Illinois basketball standout freshman sent out on Thursday night, announcing he’s coming back for his sophomore season.
“I stayed home to help Coach (Brad) Underwood turn the Illinois program around,” Dosunmu said in the video released on his Twitter feed. “We beat some ranked teams this season and tasted some success but we didn’t dance. And Illinois needs to dance.”
“It’s time to work harder,” Dosunmu said. “We’re getting bigger, better, stronger and we are building and we will be better. I will be better and that starts now.”
Dosunmu was the first true freshman in program history to lead the team in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game. The Chicago native said when he committed he wanted to be a one-and-done player but decided to not test the NBA waters.
“New hashtag, #UnfinishedBusiness,” Dosunmu said as he closed the video.
