Central Illinois native Mica Allison joins Illini Volleyball after one season with Auburn

(WCIA) — Former WCIA 3 volleyball player of the year, Mica Allison is coming home.

Allison made the decision to transfer from Auburn and signed with the Fighting Illini Thursday afternoon.

As a standout player at St. Thomas Moore High School, the 6’1″ setter was named to the 2018 SEC all-freshman team in her first collegiate season with the Tigers. She will join the Illini in the Spring of 2019.

“It’s crazy because I didn’t really think this was a possibility. But I did tell myself if Illinois was a possibility that I was supposed to be here,” says Allison. “It’s just really cool because the fan base here is really supportive, and I’m really excited to be playing in this environment again. In the SEC it’s not as good of a conference as the Big Ten for volleyball. I’m really excited to be in the powerhouse of volleyball, and being a part of a team that has really good culture going on right now and a really good program.”

Allison is especially looking forward to having her friends and family at the games next year.
