CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Illinois Football’s inexperience is no secret.
After Saturday’s loss to Minnesota, the Illini have now played the most true freshmen of any team in the country. That now includes quarterback Cam Thomas.
The Chicago native was 2-for-4 for 33 yards with one interception. He also had 79 yards rushing. Not a bad start for Thomas, who said he’s confident in his play-making abilities.
“First it’s always some jitters, but after that, it really hit me that football is still football, the game that I grew up playing,” Thomas said. “I just got to take a deep breath and do what got me here.”
