Brad Underwood says keeping Dosunmu “helps us on all aspects”

Illini

(WCIA) — The Illinois Men’s Basketball team has nearly completed their roster for next season, and they can head into the offseason with more stability knowing that Ayo Dosunmu will not declare for the NBA Draft.

This leaves the coaching staff with less holes to fill on the roster, and head coach Brad Underwood is happy Dosunmu will return, as it makes a big impact on recruiting and the program.

“All those guys that declare or look at that option, you don’t know if they’re coming back or not, you don’t know how they will perform, so you don’t know what you need,” says Underwood. “But his impact goes beyond just himself and our program, it’s what it says about others and wanting to be a part of our program, everybody should want to play with a guy like Ayo, becasue he’s not just a terrific player, but a terrific young man, so it helps us on all aspects.”
