4-Star prospects Reggie Love and Mookie Cooper visit Champaign

Illini

Champaign, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illini are getting closer to the Orange and Blue spring game, which also means a big recruiting weekend for the program.

Several recruits make the trip to Champaign, and some of the most notable prospects for the 2020 class include 4- star recruits Reggie Love and Mookie Cooper out of Trinity High School in St. Louis.

Love is a Top-25 prospect for the running back position, and a Top-10 recruit in the state of Missouri. Cooper is a Top-100 overall prospect, and the #2 wide reciver in the state.

Former Trinity head coach Cory Patterson, has played the biggest role in recruiting players from St. Louis, and is hoping these guys will sign with the Illini for 2020.

“It would be great to get some of those ball players from that area,” says Cory Patterson. “We got a lot of guys from East St. Louis, I’m pretty sure those guys will help us grow. I kinda know I did my job when I was there. Now im going to continue to do that, continue to grow with those guys, and get our program rolling again.

“To get to college, when I come, to have people that I actually know and bond with”, says Reggie Love. “Shammond Cooper, he pressures me alot to commit, so it impacts my decision.”
