Illini return from bye week

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – After a week off, Illinois football is back to work to prepare for Minnesota.

Some of the players used the time off to get away from football, some went home, others stayed in Champaign and kept the same routine.

Most of the practices during the bye week were focused on getting players that haven’t seen game action some reps. Now that game week is here, the practices will turn once again to preparing for their opponent.

“We’ve been evaluating throughout so it’s not like we all of the sudden start looking at things we’ve done well or things that we haven’t done well,” Lovie Smith said. “Just had a little bit more time to stew on it, I should say.”

“It really starts with the Tuesday practice. If you have a good Tuesday practice it’s going to propel you throughout the week,” Brandon Peters said. “I think our focus should just be on the game plan and really executing well in practice so that it carries over to the game.”
