CHAMPAIGN — Malcolm Hill can’t do much more for the Illini.  The senior led Illinois in points, rebounds, assists and steals this season but couldn’t crack the first team All-Big Ten list.  Hill was named a second teamer for the second straight season, behind Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan, Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ, Maryland’s Melo Trimble, Iowa’s Peter Jok and Minnesota’s Nate Mason.

Joining Hill on the second team are Derrick Walton, Jr. from Michigan, Miles Bridges from Michigan St., Bronson Koening from Wisconsin and Northwestern Bryant McIntosh.  Minneosta’s Richard Pitino was tabbed the league’s coach of the year.

Eighth-seeded Illinois opens Big Ten tournament play Thursday at 11 a.m. CT taking on No. 9 Michigan.  The two teams split their two regular season meetings, winning on their respective home courts.
