DECATUR (WCIA) — Jacardia Wright is heading to the Big 12. The St. Teresa standout officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Kansas State on Wednesday, picking the Wildcats ahead of several other high major programs including Minnesota, Iowa and Michigan St.
“I had a great talk with all the coaches, and the players were very good to me,” Wright said about Kansas St. “The facilities were great and I loved every second of it. It’s been a long recruiting process but I’m just glad to finally sign somewhere and get the chip off my shoulder. I want to bring the family-ness from here to K-State, and hopefully I can have the same great family around K-State as I have here at St. Teresa.”
Wright leaves as one of the state’s most decorated players. The reigning WCIA 3 Player of the Year is second in IHSA history, with 8,821 career rushing yards. The 3-star prospect holds the single season touchdown record, scoring 55 times for the Bulldogs last fall. For his career, Wright found the endzone 150 times, second on the all-time list.
