Unity football looking to replace defense

TOLONO (WCIA) — The Unity offense is an experienced group heading into the 2017 season, only losing one starter from last year’s 9-3 team.  Three-year quarterback starter Steven Migut returns as well, one of the area’s leading players.  The defense, however, is a different story as longtime head coach Scott Hamilton will have to replace nearly the entire 11-man group.

“It’s nice to have a three year starter back at quarterback, four year letterman,” Hamilton said. “At that same time we’ve got to be able to find some linebackers that can play of the defensive side. So we’ve got some holes to fill but we look forward to this opportunity.”

“I think it’s just going to take a lot of stepping up from the seniors this year,” Migut said. “Especially on the defensive end because we have a lot of guys to replace. On the offensive end we don’t really have too much to replace, I think our offense is going to be pretty high powered this year.”

Unity opens the season Aug. 25 hosting Illinois Valley Central.
