WCIA — Scores and highlights from girls high school basketball 1A and 2A super-sectionals on February 18th, 2019.
Girls 1A Super-Sectionals
Schlarman 75, Amboy 34
Tri-County 55, Marissa 28
“It feels great to be going be here and be going back to Redbird. But like we said, that’s not the goal. We want to get there, but we also want to win,” Schlarman guard Anaya Peoples said after the win. “So we’re just taking it one game at a time, but we’re living in this moment right now. We’re gonna go enjoy it, nice bus ride back home, and then start practice tomorrow.”
“It’s an amazing feeling, all the hard work and dedication that we put in, all running, the conditioning, it’s finally paying off, and it’s just great to be back to the bird,” Sydney Gouard added.
Girls 2A Super-Sectionals
St. Joseph-Ogden 58, Chicago Christian 35
Teutopolis 37, Nashville 27
“No one really talks big about girl’s basketball in St. Joe, and we’ve never really made it far, and just to show everybody that we can and we did is just amazing,” SJO senior Bree Trimble said.
“On the bus we got our nerves out, and as we came into the locker room we we’re more excited and getting focused, as we needed to be,” Peyton Crowe said. “And that’s what coach harps on us about, is being focused for the game, and just getting the job done, and I think we did just that.”
