St. Teresa soccer set to make history

EAST PEORIA (WCIA) — The St. Teresa boys’ soccer team will make history on Friday when they take on Quincy Notre Dame in the Class 1A Final 4. It’s the first time in program history the Bulldogs have played in a semifinal match. It’s something first-year head coach Davis Wegmann thought was possible when he took the position earlier this year.

“I was thinking: I’ve got this player, I’ve got this player, I’ve got this player. I’m like, ‘Geez, if I can get them to play how I want them to play, I said for sure we can go.’ Especially being in 1A.”

“We just have all nine of our seniors, really just great leaders this year,” St. Teresa senior Luichi Caceres said. “I couldn’t ask for a better group of guys.”

St. Teresa and QND will face off Friday night at 7 p.m. at EastSide Centre.
